Dear sir and Brother;
This is in reply to your telegram of September 11, 1972 in which you recommend that October 1, 1972 be established as the effective date of the merger of Local Unions 302, 478, and 530.
Please be advised that I concur in your recommendation and you are authorized to complete the necessary details to conclude the merger.
Charter number 354 has been set aside for the use of the new local union which will succeed Locals 302, 478, and 530 and, as previously suggested to you, the charters and seals of the three existing local unions should be picked up and returned to General Secretary-Treasurer Dodd. A final audit of the three existing locals should be made and, as you are aware, all assets and liabilities of these locals will become the assets and liabilities of the new local union.
According to Business Manager Frank Deluca's September 1 1972 letter, which he addressed to you, the three local unions have made arrangements with their contractors to negotiate a new labor agreement as of August 15, 1073. Therefore, mutually agreeable arrangements should be worked out as to how the current agreements will be applied in the territorial jurisdiction of the new ocal unions which, of course, well embrace the present territorial jurisdiction of the existing local unions.
Fraternally yours,
Martin J. Ward
General President
